“For your 18th
birthday…”
A story about you at their age. A little encouragement for everything that comes next.
For grandparents. For generations.
Your voice. Your stories. The things only you can tell them. Leave your grandchildren a gift to open in the years ahead.
Available now for iPhone & iPad. Make five gifts free.
iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 and later

There’s so much
I want you to know.
A story. A laugh. A little “I love you.”
More than a memory

The way you met. The mischief you got up to. The recipe you never wrote down. The advice you’d give them on a difficult day.
Box of Whispers is a place for grandparents to leave these little pieces of themselves. For a birthday, a milestone, or a day in the future when a familiar voice will mean the world.
So they can still hear your voice and know your stories, even when you’re no longer there to tell them yourself.
You don’t need a perfect story.
You just need to be you.
A few simple steps
Choose who it’s for, make your message, pick a date and check your gift. Save a draft whenever you need a pause.
For one grandchild. Or a few.
A closer look
See the Welcome, Home, Gifts and Family screens on iPhone and iPad, plus both the front and unfolded screens of iPhone Duo. Select a screenshot to see it in detail. Family examples use fictional data.
For the days ahead
A gift for one grandchild or all of them.
Each with their own
moment to open it.
A story about you at their age. A little encouragement for everything that comes next.
The advice you wish someone had given you. In your own words, in your own voice.
Your favorite memory. Your terrible joke. A simple reminder that they have always been loved.
For wherever life takes them
On a train to somewhere new. At home after a long day. Sometimes, hearing a familiar voice is all they need.
A story to come back to. A little of you to carry with them.

Love deserves to be looked after
A received gift is saved in the recipient’s own private iCloud—not just left on a link to your phone. Once it opens, they can save a copy outside the app, too.
Long-term access depends on Apple accounts, enough iCloud storage and continued app compatibility. We can’t promise a service will last forever. Keep Apple account recovery details safe and make ordinary copies of memories once they open. Future opening dates are controlled by the app, rather than a tamper-proof time lock.
Simple. Just like it should be.
Receiving and opening gifts are free in the app.

Box of Whispers Yearly
£29UK · per year
US: $29 per year
Keep creating with an annual plan. Apple shows your local price and renewal terms before you buy.
Box of Whispers Generations
£49.99UK · one payment
US: $49.99 one payment
Keep making gifts with one payment. No yearly renewal.
Apple’s checkout shows each plan’s price for your region before you buy. Yearly renews automatically unless you cancel through Apple. Buying Generations does not automatically cancel an existing Yearly plan. Earlier eligible Plus purchases keep permanent creator access. A gift for several grandchildren counts once. Normal app limits and iCloud storage requirements apply; neither plan promises permanent hosting.
For grandchildren, always free to receive. No paid creator plan is needed to open an existing gift. Receiving, keeping, backups and recovery stay free, including after a Yearly plan ends. Sharing needs an Apple account, iCloud, internet access and enough storage. Apple may charge separately for additional iCloud storage.
A parent or guardian can accept the private invitation using their own Apple account and look after the child’s gifts. When the child has their own account, the guardian can hand over the existing collection. Keep the guardian’s copies until the child’s saved copies are confirmed. New gifts will need a direct invitation to the child’s account.
Yes. Each grandparent can use their own Apple account and invite the grandchildren they’re making gifts for. They can share the family’s names and pictures without sharing control of their recordings. Names on a gift are personal attribution; the account that sent it remains its owner.
They accept your private invitation and use Box of Whispers on their iPhone or iPad. Future gifts stay out of their ready inbox. With notifications allowed, the app can schedule a reminder for a gift already synced to their phone. Notifications also depend on iOS settings and successful syncing; opening the app refreshes what’s ready.
The original sender can remove their own gift for everyone. Updated recipient apps apply the removal when they next connect. Another grandparent can’t remove your gifts through the app. Copies already exported to Photos, Files or somewhere else can’t be recalled.
You can choose a future opening date, including one many years ahead. That isn’t a guarantee of decades of uninterrupted service: Apple accounts, storage and future app compatibility still matter. Receiving families should keep their account recovery details safe, and make ordinary copies once a gift opens.
Box of Whispers is available now for iPhone and iPad. Download it from the App Store and make your first five gifts free, or explore an example here first. The website’s example uses fictional content and doesn’t create an account, send a real gift or take payment.
The best place to start is a small memory
That first holiday. That funny family story.
The day you first
held them.
